Toy Gift Guide for Toddlers

Alphabet Playdoh Mats

You get ABC and number mats.   Children shape and mold putty to fill in the letter or number on each mat.  Each card is durable and has colorful pictures of objects that begin with the letter, or multiples of shapes that correspond to the number.

Deluxe Playdoh Set

This play-doh set comes with 6 different colored play-doh and tools.  It has a roller and cutters.  Children and explore their creativity with play-doh.  This set is all you need as a gift and is under $13.00

As much as I love play-doh it’s become an outdoor toy mostly.  It never comes out of the carpet.

Pop Tubes

Stretch out Pop Tubes and twirl them around to hear different and fun sounds.

Wikki Stix

I’ve mentioned Willi Stix in my post about Fine Motor Skills.  These are reusable sticks to make anything you can imagine.  They are easy to bend and shape.

Play Foam

This foam is magical.  You can play and shape it like play-doh or clay but it’s not nearly as messy.  You can keep the colors separate or put them together.  This is something I bring to work with my students all the time.  It’s fun and easy cleanup.

Puzzles

Toddlers need large puzzle pieces that they can pick up and manipulate with their tiny hands.  You can get puzzles with animals, letters, numbers and their favorite characters to make your child more interested in them.  Choose a puzzle that will spark their interests.

Stacking blocks or stacking cups

These blocks can be stacked up high or put inside each other.  These are my personal favorite as they have the alphabet and animals on each block.  As your child stacks and learn to put the bigger block on the bottom they are also learning their letters and animals.

Mega Legos

These are perfect for tiny hands.  They can learn to put things together and start to build.

Duplo Legos

These legos are the next stage.  The pieces are smaller than the Mega legos but still big enough for toddlers.  When you go to Duplo Legos you can have more pieces and start to really build things you imagine.

Bowling Set

Plastic bowling set is perfect to use indoors.  Let your child stand up the pins and have fun knocking them down.

Personalized Elmo

Super soft Elmo stuffed animal that you can have personalized.  Children love to get items that have their names on it.  Help them learn and recognize their names by having it on their favorite character.  This is the well known GUND stuffed animal.

Little boy reading a musical boy is a great toddler toy under $20.

Musical Books

This musical book has nursery rhymes and large pages that are easy to turn.  Each page sings a song.  Musical books are great for independent playtime.  Children can look at the book and listen without having an adult read the book to them.

Little boy reading with his teddy bear. A good example of toys for Toddlers under $20 are books.

Books

Add to your toddler’s library and give books as gifts.  For every child I also give books.  It’s a great way to build the love of reading by giving them as gifts. The book then is something special that they got from someone they love.

Aqua Magic Drawing Mat

Comes with 2 magical pens that only work on this mat.  It has stencils and shapes to use making your pictures even better.  Laying on the floor is a cool and different way for kids to color.

Toddler boy playing a kid drum set. Musical toys are perfect toddler toys under $20.

Musical Drums

Playing these drums not only makes music but counts and says the alphabet as well.  Children can follow the beat and learn to count at the same time. This was a favorite gift that year.

Piggy Bank

This is one of my favorite toys for fine motor.

“Do your kids have this? It’s a terrific toy for any toddler. I use one for work and just a few weeks ago my son got one for his birthday.  I’m a huge fan of toys that teach multiple skills. Unlike other toys that want the child to put something inside, this is not difficult. The coin can be turned either way so there’s no confusion for the child. That’s an important feature when I look for toys.

This Piggybank is more than just cute. It sings songs, counts, and works on fine motor skills all at the same time. As my son puts the coins in I say the colors. This has 2 different levels that teach different skills. The coins are the perfect size for little hands.
